The game features units like soldiers, planes, helicopters, cars, tanks, boats, submarines, turrets, radars, civilians, and various xtreme units like nuke, minigun tank, gauss tank, Rambo, Osama, predator, space ship, ufo, and more. Units can be inserted from ground or air.

In singleplayer mode, the player must complete missions to unlock new missions. The player has a limited amount of units available when playing, and the amount of units vary from mission to mission. Some units are out on the battlefield at the start of a mission, and additional units can in some missions be inserted during the missions. The game has got 75 predefined missions, and they vary from attack missions, defending, rescue operations, and more. In the random mission generator, various parameters can be tweaked, like the amount of units at the player' s disposal, amount of enemies, which level to play at, and more.

In multiplayer mode, the players fight wars against each other in spitscreen mode, trying to kill each other' s headquarters. They must buy the units they use, and earn additional money when killing their opponents units. Both players buy and insert some units onto the battlefield before starting the war, and buy and insert additional units during the war.

Scudden Death 2 is the sequel of the freeware game Scudden Death that was released back in 2001.
